Job Description

Santos is seeking a motivated and talented Junior Reservoir Engineer to join our dynamic team in Gladstone, QLD. This entry-level position offers an exceptional opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career professional to embark on a career in the oil and gas industry. You will contribute to the analysis, simulation, and optimization of hydrocarbon reservoirs, playing a crucial role in maximizing asset value and ensuring sustainable production. This role provides comprehensive mentorship and exposure to various aspects of reservoir engineering, including data analysis, modeling, and field development planning within a supportive and innovative environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the collection, organization, and interpretation of reservoir data (e.g., core, log, well test, production data).
  • Support the development and maintenance of reservoir simulation models for various field development scenarios.
  • Conduct material balance calculations and decline curve analyses to forecast production.
  • Participate in well performance monitoring and optimization studies.
  • Contribute to reservoir surveillance programs and identify opportunities for production enhancement.
  • Prepare technical reports, presentations, and documentation summarizing findings and recommendations.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams including geologists, petrophysicists, and production engineers.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry best practices and emerging reservoir engineering technologies.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Strong understanding of fundamental reservoir engineering principles.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, Python, R).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • A keen interest in the oil and gas industry and energy transition.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Petroleum Engineering.
  • Prior internship or project experience in reservoir engineering or a related field.
  • Familiarity with reservoir simulation software (e.g., Petrel RE, ECLIPSE, CMG).
  • Experience with database management and visualization tools.
  • Basic knowledge of economic analysis for oil and gas projects.
