Job Description
Join Life Without Barriers as an In-Home Respite Assistant and make a genuine difference in the lives of individuals and families in the Dubbo region. This vital role provides planned short-term breaks for carers, while offering engaging and supportive activities for the person they care for. You will work directly in clients’ homes, providing companionship, personal care support, and facilitating community access. This position offers flexible hours to suit your lifestyle and is in high demand, providing consistent work opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide planned respite care in clients' homes, allowing carers a break.
- Assist clients with personal care tasks, including showering, dressing, and grooming, as required.
- Support clients with daily living activities and household tasks as agreed.
- Engage clients in meaningful activities and hobbies, both at home and in the community.
- Facilitate safe and enjoyable community access, including appointments, social outings, and errands.
- Monitor and report on client well-being and any changes in their condition.
- Maintain accurate records and adhere to care plans and organisational policies.
- Ensure a safe and supportive environment for clients at all times.
Required Skills
- Demonstrated experience in a care-giving role (personal care, disability support, aged care).
- Current First Aid and CPR certificates.
- Valid Australian Driver's License and reliable vehicle with comprehensive insurance.
- Working with Children Check (WWCC) and NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Empathy, patience, and a genuine desire to support others.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certificate III or IV in Individual Support, Aged Care, Disability, or Community Services.
- Previous experience specifically in respite care.
- Knowledge of local community resources and services in Dubbo.
