Job Description

Join Greening Australia’s dedicated team as a Tree Planter in the Katherine region. This vital role involves participating in large-scale reforestation and habitat restoration projects, contributing directly to the health of our native ecosystems. You will work outdoors in various environmental conditions, playing a hands-on role in planting native trees and shrubs, essential for biodiversity recovery and carbon sequestration. This position offers a competitive piece rate bonus structure, rewarding your hard work and productivity, alongside a commitment to environmental impact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manually plant a high volume of native trees and shrubs according to project specifications and planting techniques.
  • Prepare planting sites, including clearing debris and ensuring proper spacing and depth for seedlings.
  • Handle and transport seedlings carefully to maintain their health prior to planting.
  • Monitor and report on planting progress and any site-related issues.
  • Adhere strictly to all safety protocols and environmental guidelines.
  • Work effectively as part of a team in challenging outdoor environments.
  • Maintain tools and equipment in good working order.

Required Skills

  • Strong physical fitness and stamina to perform strenuous outdoor work for extended periods.
  • Ability to work effectively in varying weather conditions (heat, humidity, rain).
  • Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
  • Commitment to environmental conservation and safe work practices.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Basic understanding of plant handling and planting techniques (training provided).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in tree planting, horticulture, agriculture, or outdoor labour.
  • Current First Aid certificate.
  • Valid Australian driver's license (manual preferred).
  • Experience operating small machinery (e.g., augers, brush cutters) is a bonus.
  • Knowledge of native plant species in the Northern Territory.
