Job Description

Cairns Tree Care is seeking enthusiastic and physically capable individuals to join our team as Tree Ground Crew members in Tully, QLD. This is an excellent opportunity for those who enjoy working outdoors, are not afraid of hard work, and want to be part of a dynamic and supportive team. As a Ground Crew member, you will play a crucial role in supporting our certified arborists during tree removal, pruning, and maintenance operations. Your day will be active and varied, involving manual labour, operating equipment, and ensuring site safety. Full training will be provided to ensure you gain the necessary skills and confidence to excel in this essential outdoor physical role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assisting arborists with tree removal, pruning, and stump grinding operations.
  • Operating and maintaining chippers, chainsaws, and other arboricultural equipment under supervision.
  • Performing general site clean-up, including raking, stacking, and removing debris.
  • Ensuring the safe handling and loading of logs and brush onto trucks.
  • Setting up and managing traffic control systems to ensure public and crew safety.
  • Conducting pre-start checks and routine maintenance on tools and equipment.
  • Adhering strictly to all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Working effectively as part of a team in various outdoor conditions.

Required Skills

  • Strong physical fitness and stamina for demanding outdoor work.
  • Ability to follow instructions accurately and work effectively in a team environment.
  • A strong commitment to safety and adherence to protocols.
  • Willingness to learn and develop new skills in arboriculture.
  • Reliable transportation to the work site in Tully.
  • Positive attitude and strong work ethic.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a physically demanding outdoor role (e.g., landscaping, construction, farming).
  • Current Chainsaw Operations certification.
  • White Card (Construction Induction).
  • Traffic Control certification (advantageous but not essential).
  • Current First Aid and CPR certificate.
  • MR or HR driver's license.
