Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Traffic Systems Electrician to join our team in Dubbo, NSW. This is a critical role focused on the installation, maintenance, and repair of traffic signal systems and other intelligent transport systems (ITS) infrastructure. The successful candidate will primarily work night shifts, ensuring minimal disruption to daytime traffic flow and maximizing safety during complex operations. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform installation, maintenance, testing, and troubleshooting of traffic signal systems, pedestrian crossings, and ITS equipment.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance and fault finding on traffic signal controllers, cabling, and associated infrastructure.
  • Respond to urgent call-outs and emergencies related to traffic signal faults, often outside of regular business hours.
  • Ensure all work is carried out in strict accordance with relevant Australian Standards, road authority specifications, and safety regulations.
  • Operate elevated work platforms (EWPs) and other specialized equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Complete accurate daily reports, defect notifications, and job safety analyses (JSAs).
  • Collaborate effectively with team members, traffic management personnel, and other stakeholders.
  • Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, including wearing appropriate PPE at all times.

Required Skills

  • Unrestricted Electrical Licence (NSW or equivalent, eligible for recognition)
  • Minimum 4 years post-apprenticeship experience in electrical fault finding and maintenance.
  • Proven experience with traffic signal systems, ITS infrastructure, or similar complex electrical control systems.
  • Current White Card (Construction Induction).
  • Current driver's license (manual preferred).
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings.
  • Strong understanding of OH&S principles and safe work practices.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team, particularly during night shifts.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Traffic Management Implementer (yellow card) or Controller (red card) accreditation.
  • EWP (Elevated Work Platform) High-Risk Work Licence.
  • Working at Heights certification.
  • First Aid/CPR certification.
  • Experience with various traffic controller brands and models (e.g., Siemens, Peek, ATC).
