Job Description
Join GHD as a Survey Field Hand and embark on an exciting career path with extensive training and travel opportunities. This entry-level position is perfect for individuals eager to learn surveying techniques, work outdoors, and contribute to significant infrastructure and development projects across various regions. You will work closely with experienced Surveyors, assisting in data collection, equipment operation, and site preparation. No prior experience is required, as comprehensive on-the-job training will be provided to ensure your success.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist Surveyors in setting up and operating surveying instruments such as total stations, GPS equipment, and levels.
- Perform various field tasks including clearing lines, driving stakes, and marking points as directed.
- Accurately record field data and maintain detailed site logs.
- Follow safety protocols and company procedures at all times to ensure a safe working environment.
- Maintain and clean surveying equipment, ensuring it is in good working order.
- Travel to various project sites, which may include remote locations and overnight stays.
- Work collaboratively with the survey team and other project stakeholders.
- Learn and apply new surveying techniques and technologies as part of the training program.
Required Skills
- Valid Australian Driver's License and reliable transport.
- Strong work ethic and a positive attitude.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and perform physical tasks.
- Willingness to travel extensively to project sites, including regional and remote areas.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to follow instructions accurately and meticulously.
- Commitment to workplace safety.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a manual labor or outdoor work environment.
- Basic understanding of maps or geographic concepts.
- First Aid certification.
- White Card (Construction Induction).
