Job Description
Are you passionate about making a genuine difference in the lives of older people within your community? Resthaven is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Community Care Offsider to join our dynamic team in Whyalla. This rewarding full-time role involves supporting our clients and senior care staff by assisting with a variety of tasks that enable individuals to maintain their independence and quality of life at home. You will be an integral part of a care team, providing practical support, companionship, and ensuring the smooth delivery of services. Travel is an essential component of this role, as you will be visiting clients in their homes across the Whyalla region. We are looking for someone reliable, empathetic, and eager to contribute positively to the wellbeing of our community members.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior care workers in delivering person-centred care to clients in their homes.
- Provide practical support, including light household duties, meal preparation assistance, and accompanying clients on appointments or errands.
- Engage clients in social activities and provide companionship to foster their mental and emotional wellbeing.
- Safely transport clients to various locations using a company vehicle or personal vehicle (with mileage reimbursement).
- Maintain clear and accurate records of services provided and client interactions.
- Communicate effectively with clients, their families, and the care team regarding client needs and observations.
- Adhere to all Resthaven policies and procedures, including WHS guidelines and care standards.
- Actively participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities.
Required Skills
- Valid Australian Driver's License and reliable transport (or willingness to use company vehicle).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate and patient approach.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Demonstrated reliability, punctuality, and strong organisational skills.
- Physical capability to perform tasks such as light lifting, standing, and walking throughout shifts.
- Commitment to continuous learning and professional growth.
- Current First Aid and CPR Certificate (or willingness to obtain).
Preferred Qualifications
- Certificate III in Individual Support (Aged Care, Disability, or Home and Community Care).
- Previous experience in a care or support role, either paid or voluntary.
- Knowledge of the local Whyalla community and services available.
