Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Town Planning Lead to join our dynamic Urban Development team in Esperance, Western Australia. This pivotal role will see you leading significant urban and regional development projects, providing expert advice, and ensuring sustainable community growth. You will be instrumental in shaping the future of Esperance and surrounding regions, working closely with local government, stakeholders, and community groups. This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned professional to make a substantial impact in a vibrant regional setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage complex urban and regional planning projects from inception to completion.
- Provide expert town planning advice and guidance to clients, government agencies, and internal teams.
- Prepare and review planning applications, development proposals, and strategic planning documents.
- Conduct comprehensive site assessments, feasibility studies, and environmental impact analyses.
- Engage effectively with stakeholders, community groups, and regulatory bodies.
- Mentor and support junior planners, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
- Ensure all planning activities comply with relevant legislation, policies, and guidelines.
- Contribute to business development activities, including proposal writing and client relationship management.
Required Skills
- Demonstrated experience in town planning, urban design, or regional development.
- Strong understanding of Australian planning legislation and policies, particularly in Western Australia.
- Excellent project management and leadership capabilities.
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Proficiency in spatial analysis tools and planning software.
- Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Urban Planning, Regional Planning, or a related field.
- Membership with the Planning Institute of Australia (PIA).
- Experience working on projects in regional Western Australia.
- Familiarity with indigenous land use and cultural heritage considerations.
