Job Description
Join Cleanaway, Australia’s leading waste management and recycling company, at our Mount Barker facility. We are seeking enthusiastic and reliable Recycling Centre Sorters to join our dedicated team. This ongoing, full-time position is crucial for processing recyclable materials efficiently and safely, contributing directly to environmental sustainability within the community. Key Responsibilities
- Manually sort and separate various recyclable materials (e.g., paper, plastic, glass, metal) on a conveyor belt or sorting line.
- Identify and remove non-recyclable items, contaminants, and hazardous materials from the waste stream.
- Ensure proper segregation of materials into designated bins, containers, or balers according to company procedures.
- Operate baling machines, compactors, or other equipment as required (training provided).
- Maintain a clean and organised work environment, adhering strictly to all health and safety protocols and procedures.
- Report any equipment malfunctions, safety hazards, or quality control issues to supervisors promptly.
- Collaborate effectively with team members to achieve daily sorting targets and operational goals.
- Assist with general site clean-up and maintenance tasks as needed.
Required Skills
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks and stand for extended periods.
- Good hand-eye coordination and strong attention to detail.
- Reliable, punctual, and possessing a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to workplace health and safety regulations.
- Basic understanding of environmental best practices and recycling principles.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a waste management, manufacturing, or similar industrial environment.
- Current forklift license or experience operating similar heavy machinery.
- Current driver's license and reliable personal transportation to the work site.
- First Aid certification.
