Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate Race Mechanic to join our elite motorsport team. The successful candidate will play a critical role in the preparation, maintenance, and trackside support of our high-performance racing vehicles. This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated individual with a strong mechanical aptitude and a deep understanding of racing dynamics to contribute to a championship-contending team. You will work within a dynamic environment, contributing directly to vehicle reliability and performance on and off the track.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform meticulous preparation, assembly, and maintenance of racing vehicles according to engineering specifications and race team standards.
- Conduct thorough pre-race, during-race, and post-race inspections and servicing.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues under pressure, both in the workshop and at the track.
- Assist engineers with setup changes and performance adjustments during testing and race weekends.
- Maintain detailed records of vehicle maintenance, repairs, and component lifing.
- Adhere strictly to safety protocols and workshop procedures.
- Contribute to a positive and collaborative team environment.
- Travel extensively for race events and testing sessions across Australia.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Race Mechanic in a professional motorsport environment (e.g., Supercars, Carrera Cup, GT Racing).
- Strong mechanical aptitude and fault-finding skills.
- Proficiency with various hand and power tools, and specialized workshop equipment.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and tight deadlines.
- Solid understanding of vehicle dynamics, suspension, braking, and powertrain systems.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel frequently.
Preferred Qualifications
- Formal qualification in Automotive Mechanics, Motorsport Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with data acquisition systems and telemetry interpretation.
- Welding and fabrication skills.
- Experience with composite materials repair and preparation.
- Experience working with Supercars or similar high-level touring car categories.
