Job Description

We are seeking reliable and detail-oriented Prawn Sorters to join our seasonal processing team in Redcliffe, QLD. This is an immediate start, temporary position crucial for managing our peak prawn season. You will be responsible for meticulously sorting, grading, and preparing fresh prawns for packaging, ensuring adherence to our strict quality standards. This role requires excellent manual dexterity, the ability to work in a fast-paced, temperature-controlled environment, and a commitment to food safety and hygiene. Key Responsibilities

  • Manually sort and grade prawns by size, quality, and species according to company specifications.
  • Remove any damaged or substandard prawns, ensuring only premium products are processed.
  • Perform visual quality checks to identify and separate foreign materials or defects.
  • Assist with the packaging and labeling of sorted prawns.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workstation throughout shifts.
  • Adhere to all food safety, hygiene, and workplace health and safety procedures.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members and supervisors to meet production targets.

Required Skills

  • Excellent manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Comfortable working in a temperature-controlled (cool) environment.
  • Reliability and punctuality.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Basic understanding of food safety and hygiene practices (or willingness to learn).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in seafood processing or a similar food handling role.
  • Awareness of HACCP principles.
  • Current Food Handler's Certificate.
