Job Description

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Entry Level Pipe Layer Assistant to join our civil work team in Townsville. This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals looking to start a career in civil construction with no prior experience. You will work alongside experienced professionals, assisting with the installation, maintenance, and repair of various piping systems for water, sewerage, and drainage projects. Full training will be provided, focusing on safety protocols, basic construction techniques, and the specifics of pipe laying. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist skilled pipe layers and other crew members with daily tasks on civil construction sites.
  • Handle, load, and unload pipes, fittings, and other construction materials.
  • Help dig and prepare trenches, ensuring proper depth and alignment for pipe installation, using hand tools or assisting with machinery operation.
  • Maintain a clean and organised work area, ensuring all tools and equipment are properly stored.
  • Follow all safety procedures and guidelines, wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
  • Support the team in setting up and packing down construction sites.
  • Learn to identify different types of pipes and fittings and their applications.
  • Perform general labouring duties as required to support project progress.

  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks in various weather conditions.

  • Basic communication skills.
  • Valid Australian White Card (Construction Induction Card).
  • Reliable transportation to and from job sites.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a general labouring role (even outside of construction).
  • Basic knowledge of hand tools and power tools.
  • First Aid certificate.
  • Heavy Rigid (HR) driver's license.
