Job Description
We are seeking a diligent and enthusiastic Packaging Assistant to join our team in Whyalla, South Australia. This is an entry-level, full-time position involving light physical work in our dynamic packaging department. You will be responsible for supporting the packaging process, ensuring products are prepared for distribution efficiently and accurately. This role is ideal for individuals seeking to start a career in manufacturing or logistics, offering a supportive environment and opportunities for growth within a leading food company. No prior experience is required, as comprehensive on-the-job training will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting with the manual packaging and labeling of products according to company standards.
- Inspecting products for quality and ensuring all packaging materials meet specifications.
- Loading and unloading items onto production lines, pallets, or into containers.
- Maintaining a clean, organised, and safe work area, adhering to all hygiene and safety protocols.
- Accurately documenting packaging information and assisting with inventory checks as required.
- Adhering to all food safety guidelines and quality control procedures.
- Supporting team members with various tasks as needed to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
Required Skills
- Ability to perform light physical tasks, including standing for extended periods, lifting (up to 10kg), bending, and repetitive motions.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work effectively and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Basic understanding of workplace safety and hygiene practices.
- Good communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a warehouse, manufacturing, or production environment (desirable but not essential).
- Current forklift license or willingness to obtain one (advantageous for future growth).
- Familiarity with basic packaging machinery operation.
- A positive attitude and eagerness to learn.
