Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Network Cabler with Open Registration to join our dynamic team in Alice Springs. In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of data cabling infrastructure, ensuring high-quality, reliable network connectivity for our clients. You will work on various projects, from new installations to system upgrades and troubleshooting, playing a critical part in delivering essential communication services.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, terminate, test, and commission various types of data cabling, including Cat 5e, Cat 6, and fibre optic, in accordance with Australian standards and industry best practices.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and work orders to ensure accurate and efficient cable installations.
- Perform diagnostic testing and troubleshooting to identify and resolve network cabling faults and connectivity issues.
- Adhere strictly to all safety regulations, company policies, and quality standards.
- Maintain accurate records of installations, tests, and repairs.
- Collaborate effectively with team members, project managers, and clients to ensure project timelines and specifications are met.
- Provide technical support and guidance to junior staff or apprentices when required.
- Operate and maintain a variety of hand and power tools safely and efficiently.
Required Skills
- Current Australian Cabler Registration System (ACRS) Open Registration with Data Endorsement.
- Demonstrated experience in installing, terminating, and testing copper and fibre optic data cabling.
- Proficiency in using a range of cabling tools and testing equipment (e.g., Fluke testers, OTDRs).
- Strong understanding of network cabling standards (e.g., AS/NZS 3080, TIA/EIA).
- Excellent problem-solving and diagnostic skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Valid Australian Driver's License.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certificate III in Telecommunications or a related trade qualification.
- Experience with specific network hardware vendors (e.g., Cisco, Juniper).
- Basic knowledge of IP networking and protocols.
- Current White Card (Construction Induction).
- First Aid certification.
