Job Description
We are offering an invaluable clinical placement opportunity for aspiring Mental Health Nurses to gain hands-on experience within our dynamic mental health units. This placement is designed to integrate theoretical knowledge with practical skills, fostering a deep understanding of mental health care in a supportive, supervised environment. You will work alongside experienced professionals, contributing to patient assessment, care planning, and therapeutic interventions, while adhering to the highest standards of professional conduct and patient safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in direct patient care under the supervision of a qualified Mental Health Nurse.
- Assist with patient assessments, observations, and documentation of care.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of individualized care plans.
- Engage with patients in therapeutic communication and activities.
- Observe and assist in crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques.
- Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients and staff.
- Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and ethical guidelines.
- Actively seek learning opportunities and engage in reflective practice.
Required Skills
- Currently enrolled in an accredited Bachelor of Nursing or Master of Nursing program.
- Demonstrated interest in Mental Health Nursing.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and empathy.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Basic understanding of nursing principles and patient care.
- Commitment to patient confidentiality and ethical practice.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a healthcare setting (e.g., volunteer, assistant in nursing).
- Completion of relevant mental health-focused units in your nursing program.
- Current First Aid and Basic Life Support certification.
- Demonstrated resilience and ability to work in challenging environments.
