Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and physically fit Marine Labourer to join our dynamic team at Bunbury Marine Centre. This full-time position involves a variety of tasks crucial to the efficient operation of our busy boat yard and coastal marine services. The successful candidate will be involved in the preparation, cleaning, and maintenance of various vessels, ensuring our yard operations run smoothly and safely. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors, has a strong work ethic, and is eager to learn and grow within the marine industry. Training will be provided, but a keen interest in boats and marine environments is essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the hauling, launching, and blocking of vessels using appropriate equipment and safety protocols.
  • Perform general boat cleaning, pressure washing, and detailing tasks including hull cleaning and preparing surfaces for painting.
  • Support skilled technicians and tradespeople with various boat repair and maintenance projects.
  • Organise and maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of the boat yard, workshop, and storage areas.
  • Handle and transport materials, tools, and equipment safely across the yard.
  • Assist with antifouling application and surface preparation.
  • Adhere strictly to all safety regulations and company policies.
  • Perform other ad-hoc duties as required to support marine operations.

Required Skills

  • Physical fitness and ability to perform manual labour in an outdoor environment.
  • Ability to follow instructions accurately and work effectively within a team.
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety.
  • Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
  • Basic understanding of tools and equipment used in a labouring role.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to various tasks.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a boat yard, construction, or similar outdoor labouring role.
  • Experience operating forklifts or other heavy machinery (license preferred but not essential).
  • Basic knowledge of marine vessels or the marine industry.
  • Current First Aid certification.
  • Valid Driver's License.
