Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Lifeguard Supervisor to oversee operations at our regional council aquatic facilities. This crucial role involves supervising lifeguard staff, ensuring the highest standards of safety and compliance, and maintaining a welcoming and secure environment for all patrons. The successful candidate will be a strong leader, proactive in risk management, and passionate about community well-being and aquatic safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise, train, and mentor a team of lifeguards, ensuring adherence to all safety protocols and facility procedures.
- Develop and implement lifeguard rotas, ensuring adequate coverage for all operational hours.
- Conduct regular in-service training and drills for lifeguard staff to maintain high levels of skill and readiness.
- Oversee the daily operations of the aquatic facilities, including water quality testing, equipment checks, and facility cleanliness.
- Respond effectively to emergencies, administering first aid and CPR as required, and completing incident reports accurately.
- Act as a primary point of contact for public inquiries and concerns, resolving issues professionally and promptly.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations, local council policies, and aquatic industry standards.
- Assist with the maintenance and upkeep of aquatic equipment and facilities.
- Maintain accurate records of staff performance, training, and facility operations.
Required Skills
- Current Lifeguard Qualification (e.g., Pool Lifeguard Award, Bronze Medallion)
- Current First Aid and CPR certificates
- Demonstrated experience in a supervisory role within an aquatic environment
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Excellent knowledge of aquatic safety procedures and risk management strategies
- Ability to respond calmly and effectively in emergency situations
- Working With Children Check (WWCC) or ability to obtain one
Preferred Qualifications
- Certificate III or IV in Aquatics and Community Recreation
- Advanced Resuscitation Techniques Certificate
- Experience with water quality testing and maintenance procedures
- Proficiency in basic computer applications for scheduling and reporting
