Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Pipe Integrity Technician with a strong background in civil work to join our team in Gosford, New South Wales. In this vital role, you will be responsible for the inspection, maintenance, and repair of various pipe systems, ensuring their structural integrity and operational efficiency within civil infrastructure projects. This includes working on water, wastewater, stormwater, and other utility pipelines. You will be instrumental in identifying potential issues, performing corrective actions, and adhering to strict safety and quality standards, contributing directly to the reliability of essential infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough inspections of pipe systems using various techniques (e.g., CCTV, sonar, visual assessments) to identify defects, leaks, blockages, and structural integrity issues.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks, including cleaning, descaling, and minor repairs on pipeline infrastructure.
- Execute civil work related to pipe integrity, such as excavation, backfilling, pipe laying, jointing, and implementing trenchless technologies where applicable.
- Operate and maintain specialized equipment for pipe inspection, cleaning, and repair, ensuring proper calibration and functionality.
- Prepare detailed reports and maintain accurate records of inspections, findings, repair methodologies, and completed work, adhering to company and client standards.
- Collaborate effectively with civil engineers, project managers, and other technicians to plan and execute comprehensive integrity management strategies.
- Ensure strict compliance with all relevant safety regulations, environmental standards, and project specifications on all work sites.
- Participate in emergency response activities for pipeline failures or incidents, providing rapid assessment and rectification.
- Provide technical support, mentorship, and guidance to junior technicians or team members, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
Required Skills
- Proven experience (minimum 2 years) as a Pipe Integrity Technician or similar role within a civil engineering or utilities environment.
- Strong understanding of various pipe materials, construction methods, and common failure mechanisms in buried infrastructure.
- Proficiency in operating CCTV inspection cameras, sonar equipment, and other diagnostic tools for pipeline assessment.
- Demonstrated knowledge of trenching, excavation, and confined space safety procedures and best practices.
- Ability to accurately interpret technical drawings, schematics, and survey data to inform work execution.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, meticulous attention to detail, and strong analytical capabilities.
- Valid Australian Driver's License.
- White Card (General Construction Induction Card) for working on construction sites.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certificate III or IV in Civil Construction, Plumbing, Water Operations, or a closely related trade.
- Experience with non-destructive testing (NDT) techniques for pipeline assessment (e.g., ground-penetrating radar, ultrasonic testing).
- Familiarity with GIS and asset management software for tracking and reporting on pipeline infrastructure.
- Certified for confined space entry and rescue operations.
- Basic knowledge of water and wastewater network operations and regulatory requirements.
