Are you a true dog lover with a passion for animal welfare? We’re seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Kennel Assistant to join our team at PETstock Coffs Harbour. This vital role involves ensuring the health, happiness, and safety of all animals in our care, primarily focusing on dogs. You will be responsible for maintaining a clean and comfortable environment, assisting with feeding, exercise, and providing essential enrichment. Key Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize kennels, play areas, and common spaces regularly to maintain a high standard of hygiene.
• Monitor the health and behaviour of dogs, reporting any concerns or changes to senior staff immediately.
• Feed and water animals according to strict schedules and dietary requirements.
• Provide daily exercise and enrichment activities for dogs, including walks and supervised playtime.
• Administer basic medications as directed by veterinary staff or supervisors.
• Assist with bathing, grooming, and other basic animal care tasks.
• Maintain accurate records of feeding, medication, and animal behaviour.
• Interact positively with animals, providing comfort, reassurance, and socialization.
• Assist customers with enquiries regarding pet care and services as needed.
• Support the broader team with general facility maintenance and operational tasks.

Required Skills

• Genuine love and compassion for animals, particularly dogs.
• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
• Excellent observational skills to monitor animal health and behaviour.
• Reliable, punctual, and a strong sense of responsibility.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Basic understanding of animal welfare principles and animal handling techniques.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience working in a kennel, animal shelter, veterinary clinic, or similar environment.
• Certification in animal care, animal studies, or veterinary assisting.
• Knowledge of various dog breeds, temperaments, and common health issues.
• First Aid certification for animals (e.g., Pet First Aid).
