Job Description
Are you a true animal lover with a passion for canine welfare? Greencross Vets is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Kennel Assistant to join our compassionate team in Maroochydore. This role is perfect for someone who genuinely loves working with dogs and is committed to providing a safe, clean, and nurturing environment for our furry patients and boarders. You will be instrumental in the daily care, well-being, and comfort of the dogs under our supervision, ensuring they receive the attention and exercise they need. Key Responsibilities
- Provide daily care for dogs, including feeding, watering, and administering prescribed medications.
- Maintain the cleanliness and sanitation of kennels, runs, and common areas to the highest standards.
- Monitor the health and behavior of all animals, reporting any concerns or changes to veterinary staff.
- Exercise dogs safely and appropriately, ensuring their physical and mental well-being.
- Assist veterinary technicians and veterinarians with animal restraint and handling during examinations or procedures.
- Perform laundry duties, including washing and folding bedding and towels.
- Ensure all animals have fresh bedding and comfortable living conditions.
- Assist with intake and discharge of boarding animals, ensuring all paperwork is accurate.
- Maintain inventory of food, cleaning supplies, and other kennel necessities.
Required Skills
- Genuine love for and comfort working with dogs of all breeds and sizes.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for long periods.
- Strong attention to detail and observation skills.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Commitment to maintaining a clean and hygienic environment.
- Ability to follow instructions precisely and adhere to safety protocols.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working in a kennel, animal shelter, or veterinary clinic.
- Knowledge of animal behavior and basic animal first aid.
- Certificate II or III in Animal Studies or equivalent qualification.
