Job Description

Join the Woolworths Group team in Cairns as an Inventory Control Clerk. This crucial role ensures the accuracy and efficiency of our stock management systems within a dynamic retail or distribution environment. Working primarily on shift schedules, you will be responsible for maintaining precise inventory records, conducting regular stock counts, and investigating discrepancies. This role requires meticulous attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving, with minimal direct phone interaction, allowing you to focus on hands-on inventory tasks. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform accurate cycle counts and physical inventory checks as scheduled.
  • Investigate and reconcile inventory discrepancies, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
  • Maintain precise inventory records using our warehouse management system.
  • Assist in the receiving, stocking, and dispatching of goods, ensuring correct inventory levels.
  • Monitor stock levels and report on low stock or overstock situations.
  • Collaborate with warehouse and logistics teams to ensure smooth inventory flow.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and company policies.
  • Prepare and submit regular inventory reports.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in inventory control, warehousing, or a similar role.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in using inventory management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Physical capability to perform duties including lifting, standing, and moving inventory.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certificate III or IV in Warehousing Operations or Logistics.
  • Experience with SAP or other major ERP systems.
  • Forklift license (LF) or willingness to obtain one.
  • Previous experience in a large retail or distribution centre setting.
