Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Fitter and Turner to join our dynamic team in Berri, South Australia. In this role, you will be responsible for the precise fabrication, assembly, and maintenance of mechanical components and machinery essential to our diverse engineering projects. You will work with a variety of materials and tools, ensuring all work adheres to strict safety standards and engineering specifications. Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and schematics.
- Machine, fabricate, and assemble mechanical components and tools.
- Perform maintenance, repair, and overhaul of plant machinery and equipment.
- Operate various workshop machinery including lathes, milling machines, grinders, and drilling machines.
- Conduct fault diagnosis and troubleshoot mechanical issues.
- Ensure all work is completed to high-quality standards and within specified timelines.
- Adhere strictly to all safety procedures and company policies.
- Collaborate with engineers and other tradespersons to ensure project success.
- Maintain a clean and organised work environment.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Fitter and Turner or similar role.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications.
- Strong knowledge of various machining techniques and tools (lathes, mills, grinders).
- Competency in using precision measuring instruments.
- Solid understanding of mechanical principles and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to workplace safety and quality standards.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant Trade Certificate (e.g., Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade or Mechanical Trade).
- Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Forklift licence.
- Experience in an industrial or heavy manufacturing environment.
