Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Expatriate Management Specialist to join our Human Resources team in Warrnambool. This role is crucial in managing the global mobility of our employees, ensuring a smooth transition and ongoing support for expatriates and their families. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of international HR practices, tax implications, immigration laws, and cultural sensitivities related to global assignments. You will be responsible for the end-to-end expatriate lifecycle, from initial assignment planning to repatriation, contributing significantly to employee satisfaction and retention within our global workforce.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the full lifecycle of expatriate assignments, including pre-assignment planning, relocation, ongoing support, and repatriation.
- Advise management and employees on global mobility policies, processes, and best practices.
- Coordinate with internal departments (e.g., Legal, Finance, Payroll) and external vendors (e.g., immigration consultants, tax advisors, relocation services) to ensure compliance and support.
- Administer expatriate compensation and benefits, ensuring accuracy and adherence to international standards and local regulations.
- Provide guidance on visa and immigration requirements, facilitating necessary documentation and applications.
- Act as a primary point of contact for expatriates, addressing their queries and concerns regarding assignments, cultural adjustment, and personal well-being.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation, policies, and procedures related to expatriate management.
- Monitor global mobility trends and advise on potential policy enhancements or adjustments.
- Conduct orientation sessions for new expatriates and their families.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant labor laws, tax regulations, and social security agreements in host and home countries.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in global mobility, expatriate management, or international HR.
- In-depth knowledge of international HR practices, compensation, and benefits.
- Familiarity with global immigration processes and international tax regulations for expatriates.
- Excellent interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, global environment.
- Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree or relevant certification (e.g., GMS, SHRM-CP/SCP).
- Experience working with a large multinational corporation or professional services firm.
- Proficiency in an additional language.
- Experience with Australian immigration laws and tax implications.
