Job Description
We are seeking dedicated and safety-conscious individuals to join our team as an Excavator Spotter. This entry-level role is perfect for someone looking to start a career in the mining industry, with full training provided. As an Excavator Spotter, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe operation of heavy machinery, primarily excavators, on our sites. Your primary responsibility will be to act as the eyes and ears for the excavator operator, guiding them safely through their tasks and preventing potential hazards. A strong commitment to safety, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment are essential. Key Responsibilities
- Provide clear and concise communication to excavator operators using hand signals, two-way radios, and other agreed-upon methods.
- Maintain constant visual contact with excavators and their swing radius, ensuring no personnel or equipment are in harm's way.
- Identify and communicate potential hazards, blind spots, and obstructions to operators in real-time.
- Assist with traffic management and pedestrian safety around excavation sites.
- Conduct pre-start checks of the work area to identify any safety concerns.
- Participate actively in daily toolbox talks and safety briefings.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies, procedures, and relevant regulations.
- Report any incidents, near misses, or unsafe conditions promptly.
- Contribute to a positive safety culture on site.
