Job Description
We are urgently seeking a dedicated and reliable Dishwasher / Kitchen Porter to join our busy team at The Katherine Hotel & Bistro. If you’re a hard worker with a positive attitude and a commitment to cleanliness, we want to hear from you! No prior experience is necessary – we’ll provide all the training you need to succeed. This is a fantastic opportunity to become an integral part of our friendly kitchen staff, ensuring smooth operations and a clean, hygienic environment for our culinary team. Key Responsibilities
- Washing and sanitizing all kitchen utensils, dishes, pots, and pans using both manual and machine methods.
- Operating and maintaining dishwashing equipment efficiently and safely.
- Assisting with the general cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, including floors, work surfaces, and storage areas.
- Emptying trash and recycling bins regularly and ensuring proper waste disposal.
- Receiving and storing deliveries, ensuring items are correctly placed and rotated.
- Supporting the culinary team with basic food preparation tasks when required, such as peeling or chopping.
- Adhering to all health and safety regulations and hygiene standards, including HACCP principles.
Required Skills
- Reliability and a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods, lift moderate weights (up to 15kg), and perform repetitive tasks.
- A team player with good communication skills and a positive attitude.
- Commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
Preferred Qualifications
- Some previous experience in a kitchen or hospitality setting.
- Basic understanding of food safety principles or a current Food Handlers Certificate.
