Job Description
We are seeking a compassionate and enthusiastic Disability Day-Program Helper to join our dedicated team in Penrith. This role is crucial in supporting individuals with disabilities to participate in engaging day programs and community activities, fostering their independence, social skills, and overall well-being. You will work closely with participants, helping them achieve their personal goals and enjoy a fulfilling daily routine. Key Responsibilities
- Assist participants with a range of daily activities and personal care needs as required, always maintaining dignity and respect.
- Support participants in engaging with various day program activities, including arts and crafts, cooking, games, and educational sessions.
- Facilitate and accompany participants on community outings and events, promoting social inclusion and skill development.
- Implement individual support plans, ensuring all goals and preferences are met.
- Observe and report on participants' progress, challenges, and any changes in their well-being.
- Maintain a safe, supportive, and stimulating environment for all participants.
- Collaborate effectively with team members, families, and other stakeholders.
- Adhere to all NDIS guidelines, company policies, and relevant legislation.
Required Skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Empathy, patience, and a genuine passion for supporting people with disabilities.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Current First Aid and CPR certificates.
- Valid Australian Driver's License and reliable transport.
- Ability to undergo and pass a satisfactory Working With Children Check (WWCC) and NDIS Worker Screening Check.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certificate III or IV in Disability, Community Services, or a related field.
- Previous experience (paid or voluntary) in disability support, aged care, or a similar community-focused role.
- Experience working with diverse range of disabilities and support needs.
- Knowledge of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).
