Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Diamond Driller to join our resource exploration team in Karratha, Western Australia. This crucial role involves operating advanced diamond drilling rigs to extract core samples, which are vital for geological analysis and understanding mineral deposits. You will be instrumental in our exploration efforts, working in a dynamic and challenging environment. The successful candidate will possess a strong commitment to safety, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to work effectively as part of a highly skilled team.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain diamond drilling rigs and associated equipment safely and efficiently.
- Retrieve high-quality core samples from various geological formations.
- Ensure accurate core orientation, labelling, and boxing according to established procedures.
- Conduct routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and minor repairs on drilling machinery.
- Adhere to all safety protocols, company policies, and environmental regulations.
- Maintain detailed drilling logs and daily reports, recording progress and any operational issues.
- Collaborate effectively with geologists, field technicians, and other team members.
- Participate in pre-start meetings, risk assessments, and contribute to a strong safety culture.
- Manage drill fluids and additives responsibly.
- Mobilize and demobilize drilling equipment to various exploration sites.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Diamond Driller, preferably in resource exploration.
- Sound knowledge of diamond drilling techniques, equipment, and core recovery methods.
- Mechanical aptitude for basic rig maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Strong understanding and adherence to safety procedures in a mining/drilling environment.
- Ability to work long shifts and in remote, challenging outdoor conditions.
- Physical fitness to handle manual tasks and operate heavy machinery.
- Valid Australian C-Class Driver's License.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant drilling certifications or trade qualifications.
- Heavy Rigid (HR) or Multi Combination (MC) Driver's License.
- First Aid certification.
- Experience working on remote sites in Western Australia.
- Knowledge of geological sampling practices and data collection.
- Current police clearance and pre-employment medical clearance.
