Job Description

Amana Living is offering an invaluable student placement opportunity for individuals currently undertaking a Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing and Disability) in Bunbury. This placement is designed to provide you with the essential practical hours required for your qualification, allowing you to apply theoretical knowledge in a real-world aged care setting. You will work alongside experienced professionals, gaining hands-on experience in personal care, support services, and resident engagement. This is a fantastic chance to develop critical skills, build confidence, and make a meaningful difference in the lives of our residents.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist residents with daily living activities, including personal care, mobility, and feeding, in a respectful and dignified manner.
  • Support residents in participating in social and recreational activities, fostering a stimulating and engaging environment.
  • Observe and learn from experienced care staff, adhering to care plans and organisational policies and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of care provided, ensuring privacy and confidentiality.
  • Communicate effectively and empathetically with residents, their families, and the care team.
  • Contribute to a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for all residents.
  • Follow all health and safety guidelines and infection control protocols.

Required Skills

  • Currently enrolled in a Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing and Disability).
  • Valid National Police Check (or willingness to obtain one).
  • Current First Aid and CPR certificates.
  • Demonstrated empathy, patience, and a genuine interest in working with older adults.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and follow instructions.
  • A strong commitment to person-centred care.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous volunteer experience in a healthcare or aged care setting.
  • Basic understanding of aged care principles and practices.
  • Reliable transportation to and from the Bunbury facility.
