Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Depot Manager to oversee the daily operations of our distribution depot in Toowoomba. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and safe flow of goods, managing a team, optimizing operational processes, and maintaining high standards of customer service and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of depot operations, including inbound, outbound, sorting, and dispatch.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of depot staff, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, company policies, and transport legislation.
  • Optimize resource allocation, including personnel, vehicles, and equipment, to maximize efficiency.
  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs), implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Oversee inventory management and ensure accurate record-keeping.
  • Liaise with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to resolve issues and improve service levels.
  • Implement and maintain quality control standards throughout the depot.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in depot management or a similar role within the logistics/distribution sector.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent understanding of logistics, supply chain processes, and transport regulations.
  • Proficiency in depot management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Solid communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to safety and operational excellence.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or Business Administration.
  • Experience with continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma).
  • Forklift license and heavy vehicle licensing (e.g., MC, HC) beneficial.
  • Familiarity with the Toowoomba and broader Queensland regional distribution network.
