Job Description
Are you an early riser looking for a stable and vital role within your community? The Rural City of Murray Bridge Council is seeking dedicated and reliable individuals to join our waste management team as Bin Collectors. This essential full-time role offers the advantage of early starts, ensuring your afternoons are free to enjoy personal time, family, or other commitments. You will be instrumental in maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene of our city, playing a crucial part in community well-being. Key Responsibilities
- Operate waste collection vehicles safely and efficiently along designated routes.
- Collect and empty residential and commercial waste and recycling bins according to schedule.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and equipment, reporting any faults or maintenance needs.
- Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, council policies, and safety regulations.
- Assist with the maintenance and cleaning of waste collection vehicles and equipment.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding daily operations or issues.
- Ensure proper disposal of collected waste at designated facilities.
Required Skills
- Current and valid Heavy Rigid (HR) Class Driver's License (or higher).
- Proven experience driving heavy vehicles, preferably in a waste management or similar environment.
- Strong understanding and commitment to workplace health and safety procedures.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in varying weather conditions.
- Excellent physical fitness and stamina to perform manual tasks including lifting, pushing, and pulling.
- Reliable, punctual, and a strong work ethic.
- Ability to read maps and follow designated routes accurately.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Bin Collector or in a similar public service role.
- Knowledge of local area roads and routes within Murray Bridge.
- First Aid certification.
