Job Description

Are you passionate about the art of baking and eager to start a career in a vibrant kitchen environment? Publix Super Markets is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Pastry Assistant Trainee to join our talented bakery team in Maitland, Florida. This entry-level position is perfect for individuals with little to no prior experience who are keen to learn the fundamentals of pastry production. You’ll gain hands-on experience in preparing a wide variety of baked goods, from delicious cakes and cookies to artisan breads, all while working alongside experienced pastry chefs. Early shifts mean you’ll be part of bringing the fresh aroma of baked goods to our customers every morning, contributing directly to their daily delight.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist pastry chefs and bakers in daily production, including measuring ingredients, mixing doughs, and preparing fillings.
  • Learn and execute basic decorating techniques for cakes, cupcakes, and other pastries.
  • Operate and maintain bakery equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Ensure cleanliness and organization of the workstation and kitchen area, adhering to all food safety standards.
  • Support inventory management by assisting with stock rotation and checking product quality.
  • Contribute to a positive and collaborative team environment.
  • Adhere to early morning shift schedules to ensure fresh products are ready for opening.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in a kitchen or food service environment (even non-professional) is a plus but not required.
  • Basic understanding of food safety and hygiene principles.
  • Current Food Handler's Certificate.
