Job Description
Join Cochlear’s Advanced Manufacturing team as an Automation & Robotics Intern. This exciting internship offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the development and optimization of our state-of-the-art manufacturing processes. You will work alongside experienced engineers, applying your theoretical knowledge to real-world challenges in robotics, automation, and industrial control systems within a cleanroom environment. This role is perfect for a proactive student eager to make a tangible impact and gain invaluable experience in a leading medical device company.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the design, development, and testing of robotic systems and automated manufacturing cells.
- Support the integration of new automation technologies into existing production lines.
- Participate in troubleshooting and optimizing automated equipment for performance and reliability.
- Contribute to documentation of automation processes, robot programming, and standard operating procedures.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, R&D, and quality assurance.
- Conduct research on emerging robotics and automation trends to identify potential applications.
- Perform data analysis to identify areas for process improvement and efficiency gains.
Required Skills
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Robotics Engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Basic understanding of robotics principles, automation, and control systems.
- Familiarity with at least one programming language (e.g., Python, C++, MATLAB, PLC languages).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous project experience involving robotics or automation (academic or personal).
- Experience with industrial robots (e.g., ABB, KUKA, FANUC) or collaborative robots.
- Knowledge of sensor technologies, machine vision, and data acquisition systems.
- Understanding of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
