Job Description

We are seeking highly motivated and compassionate Aged Care Support Workers holding a Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing or Disability) to join our dedicated team in Cairns. This is a high-demand role for individuals passionate about providing exceptional person-centred care, promoting independence, and enhancing the quality of life for our residents. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide personal care assistance to residents, including showering, dressing, grooming, and toileting, with dignity and respect.
  • Assist residents with mobility, transfers, and exercises as per care plans and manual handling guidelines.
  • Support residents with feeding and hydration, ensuring dietary requirements are met.
  • Monitor and report changes in residents' physical, emotional, and cognitive condition to the nursing team.
  • Assist with medication reminders and simple wound care under the direct supervision of registered nurses.
  • Engage residents in social activities, conversations, and therapeutic programs.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for residents.
  • Complete accurate and timely documentation of care provided and observations.
  • Adhere to all policies, procedures, and relevant legislative requirements, including WHS.
  • Foster a positive and supportive atmosphere for residents, their families, and fellow team members.

Required Skills

  • Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing or Disability) or equivalent.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certificates.
  • Demonstrated experience in providing personal care and support, preferably in an aged care setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with residents and families.
  • Strong empathy, patience, and a genuine passion for working with the elderly.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Understanding of the aged care quality standards and safe work practices.
  • Reliability and flexibility to work across various shifts, including weekends and public holidays.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in residential aged care or home care.
  • Training in dementia care and palliative care.
  • Valid Australian driver's license and reliable transport.
  • Experience with electronic care planning systems.
