Job Description
Are you passionate about animals and looking to start a rewarding career in animal care? Carnarvon Pet Resort is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Boarding Kennel Hand to join our team. No prior experience is required – we’re looking for individuals with a genuine love for animals and a willingness to learn. This role is crucial to the daily operations of our resort, ensuring all animals are well-cared for, happy, and safe. Key Responsibilities
- Provide daily care for boarding animals, including feeding, watering, and administering medication as instructed.
- Clean and sanitize kennels, runs, and common areas to maintain a hygienic environment.
- Monitor animal behavior and health, reporting any concerns to senior staff.
- Supervise playtime and exercise sessions for dogs, ensuring their safety and enjoyment.
- Assist with animal intake and discharge procedures, including record-keeping.
- Perform light grooming tasks such as brushing and basic bathing.
- Interact with pet owners in a professional and friendly manner.
- Maintain inventory of food, cleaning supplies, and other kennel necessities.
Required Skills
- A genuine love and respect for animals of all sizes and temperaments.
- Ability to follow instructions meticulously and work independently or as part of a team.
- Strong work ethic and reliability.
- Physical fitness and ability to lift up to 20kg, bend, stand, and walk for extended periods.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Willingness to work weekends and holidays as required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous volunteer experience with animals (e.g., shelters, rescues).
- Basic knowledge of animal behavior or pet first aid.
- Experience in customer service roles.
