Job Description

Join the Mount Isa City Council as a School Crossing Marshall and play a crucial role in ensuring the safety of children traveling to and from local schools. This vital part-time position involves supervising designated school crossings during peak school hours, assisting pedestrians, and managing traffic flow to create a secure environment for our young community members. We are looking for reliable, community-minded individuals with excellent communication skills and a strong commitment to child safety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise school crossings during designated peak hours (e.g., morning and afternoon bell times).
  • Safely guide children and other pedestrians across the road.
  • Manage traffic flow to ensure safe passage for pedestrians, using approved hand signals and equipment.
  • Educate children and parents on road safety practices.
  • Report any incidents, hazards, or concerns to the relevant authorities.
  • Maintain a visible and professional presence at all times.
  • Adhere to all Council policies and road safety regulations.
