Job Description
Join the Mount Isa City Council as a School Crossing Marshall and play a crucial role in ensuring the safety of children traveling to and from local schools. This vital part-time position involves supervising designated school crossings during peak school hours, assisting pedestrians, and managing traffic flow to create a secure environment for our young community members. We are looking for reliable, community-minded individuals with excellent communication skills and a strong commitment to child safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise school crossings during designated peak hours (e.g., morning and afternoon bell times).
- Safely guide children and other pedestrians across the road.
- Manage traffic flow to ensure safe passage for pedestrians, using approved hand signals and equipment.
- Educate children and parents on road safety practices.
- Report any incidents, hazards, or concerns to the relevant authorities.
- Maintain a visible and professional presence at all times.
- Adhere to all Council policies and road safety regulations.
Required Skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong sense of responsibility and reliability.
- Awareness of and commitment to child safety.
