Job Description
Are you passionate about plants and eager to kickstart your career in horticulture? Bunnings Warehouse in Albury is seeking an enthusiastic Nursery Assistant with a keen interest in plants, even if you have no prior professional experience. This entry-level role is perfect for someone who loves being outdoors, is keen to learn, and enjoys helping people. You will be an integral part of our garden centre team, ensuring our plants are healthy and our customers receive excellent service and advice.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist customers with plant selection and provide basic advice on plant care, potting, and gardening techniques.
- Watering, pruning, and general maintenance of plants to ensure their health and vitality.
- Receive and display new plant stock, ensuring proper placement and merchandising.
- Maintain a clean and organised nursery environment, including sweeping, tidying displays, and clearing pathways.
- Assist with inventory checks and stock rotation.
- Operate basic garden centre equipment safely and efficiently.
- Contribute to a positive and supportive team environment.
Required Skills
- A genuine passion for plants and gardening, with basic plant knowledge.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a friendly and approachable demeanour.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Willingness to learn and take initiative.
- Physical stamina to handle heavy lifting, standing for long periods, and working in various weather conditions.
- Reliable and punctual.
Preferred Qualifications
- Basic knowledge of different plant types (e.g., annuals, perennials, shrubs, trees) and their care requirements.
- Previous experience in a customer service role (even if informal).
- An understanding of basic gardening principles.
- Horticulture-related studies or certifications are a bonus, but not required.
