Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and physically fit Wool Presser Assistant to join our shearing teams in the Mildura region. This is an exciting opportunity to immerse yourself in a traditional Australian industry, working alongside experienced shearers and wool handlers. As a Wool Presser Assistant, you will play a crucial role in the efficient operation of the shearing shed, primarily focusing on pressing wool, maintaining a clean workspace, and assisting the classer. This role is ideal for someone looking for hands-on work, willing to learn, and capable of working in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate the wool press to efficiently bale wool according to classer's instructions.
- Assist the wool classer in preparing fleece for pressing, ensuring correct sorting and quality.
- Maintain a clean and organised shearing shed, including sweeping floors and handling dags.
- Load and unload bales, and assist with general shed duties as required.
- Follow all safety procedures and guidelines diligently.
- Work collaboratively with the shearing team to ensure smooth and productive operations.
- Learn and adapt to the rhythm and demands of a busy shearing season.

- Physical fitness and stamina to handle demanding manual labour.
- Strong work ethic and reliability.
