Job Description

We are seeking a reliable and physically fit Waste Truck Helper to join our dedicated team in Parramatta. This is an ongoing full-time position working on council contracts, playing a crucial role in our waste collection operations. You will be responsible for assisting the truck driver with the safe and efficient collection of waste and recycling from residential and commercial premises. This role offers stable employment, a supportive team environment, and the opportunity to contribute to essential community services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the truck driver with the safe and efficient collection of waste and recycling.
  • Operate compaction mechanisms and other equipment on the waste truck as directed.
  • Guide the truck driver safely during maneuvers, especially in tight spaces and reversing.
  • Ensure all waste bins are returned to their correct place after collection.
  • Adhere strictly to all safety policies and procedures, including PPE requirements.
  • Report any incidents, hazards, or equipment malfunctions promptly.
  • Maintain a clean and tidy work environment on and around the truck.
  • Interact professionally and courteously with the public and team members.

  • Excellent physical fitness and stamina to handle repetitive lifting and outdoor work.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
  • Good communication skills and ability to follow instructions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in waste collection or a similar manual labour role.
  • Basic knowledge of waste management processes.
  • Valid driver's license (desirable but not essential for helper role).
  • Current First Aid certification.
