Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Veterinary Nurse to join our vibrant team at Greencross Vets Dandenong. Key Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians during examinations, consultations, and surgical procedures.
- Prepare surgical suites and instruments, ensuring sterile conditions.
- Administer medications, fluids, and treatments as directed by veterinarians.
- Monitor anesthetized patients and provide post-operative care.
- Perform diagnostic tests including blood work, urinalysis, and radiographs.
- Educate pet owners on animal health, nutrition, and preventative care.
- Maintain accurate patient records and manage clinic inventory.
- Provide compassionate nursing care to hospitalized animals.
- Ensure the clinic environment is clean, organised, and compliant with safety standards.
Required Skills
- Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing (or equivalent recognized qualification).
- Minimum of 12 months experience as a qualified Veterinary Nurse.
- Strong understanding of veterinary medical terminology and procedures.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in venipuncture, IV catheter placement, and anesthetic monitoring.
- Demonstrated commitment to animal welfare and client satisfaction.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with specialist equipment (e.g., dental x-ray, ultrasound).
- Familiarity with RxWorks or similar practice management software.
- Advanced first aid or emergency care training.
- A proactive approach to continuous professional development.
