Job Description

The Department of Veterans’ Affairs is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterans Affairs Case Support officer to join our team in Broome. This APS Level role is critical in providing administrative and support services to veterans and their families, ensuring they receive timely and appropriate assistance. You will work closely with Case Managers to manage inquiries, process applications, maintain accurate records, and navigate DVA services. This role requires strong organizational skills, empathy, and a commitment to upholding DVA’s values.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support to Case Managers in the delivery of services to veterans and their families.
  • Respond to inquiries from veterans and their representatives, providing accurate information or redirecting as necessary.
  • Assist with the processing of applications, claims, and service requests, ensuring completeness and compliance.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential client records in DVA systems.
  • Prepare correspondence, reports, and other documents as required.
  • Collaborate with internal DVA teams and external service providers to facilitate comprehensive support.
  • Contribute to a supportive and respectful team environment.

Required Skills

  • Demonstrated administrative and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in using standard office software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Empathy and a commitment to client service, particularly for vulnerable populations.
  • Australian Citizenship or permanent residency required for APS roles.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a government or public service environment.
  • Understanding of the challenges faced by veterans and their families.
  • Experience with client management systems or database administration.
