Job Description
Are you an enthusiastic animal lover looking to start your career in veterinary medicine? Port Curtis Veterinary Group is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Vet Clinic Assistant (Entry) to join our team in Gladstone. This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals with little to no prior experience to learn the fundamentals of animal care, clinic operations, and support our veterinarians and nurses in a hands-on environment. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth running of our clinic and providing a comfortable experience for our animal patients and their owners. Full training will be provided to help you develop essential skills and knowledge in the veterinary field.
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting veterinarians and veterinary nurses with animal restraint during examinations, treatments, and procedures.
- Maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards throughout the clinic, including kennels, examination rooms, and surgical areas.
- Preparing and sterilizing surgical instruments and equipment.
- Monitoring and feeding hospitalised animals according to veterinary instructions.
- Assisting with client communication, including answering phones, scheduling appointments, and greeting clients.
- Handling and restocking supplies, ensuring inventory is well-managed.
- Performing basic laboratory tasks under supervision, such as preparing samples.
- Providing compassionate care and comfort to all animal patients.
- Learning and adhering to all clinic protocols and safety procedures.
