Job Description
We are seeking a motivated and physically fit Turf Farm Labourer to join our team in Katherine. This is an active outdoor role that requires dedication, reliability, and a willingness to work as part of a close-knit team. You will be involved in all aspects of turf production, from planting and maintenance to harvesting and dispatch. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare land for planting, including soil cultivation and amendment.
- Operate various farm machinery and equipment (e.g., tractors, mowers, forklifts) safely and efficiently.
- Plant, irrigate, fertilise, and spray turf according to production schedules and quality standards.
- Identify and manage weeds, pests, and diseases affecting turfgrass.
- Harvest turf using specialised machinery and prepare it for dispatch.
- Assist with loading and unloading turf onto trucks.
- Perform general farm maintenance, including fencing, machinery cleaning, and tidying work areas.
- Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Report any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards to management.
Required Skills
- Proven physical fitness and ability to perform demanding outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
- Demonstrated reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Basic understanding of workplace safety procedures.
- Valid Australian Driver's License.
- Willingness to learn and operate farm machinery.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in an outdoor labouring role, preferably in agriculture or horticulture.
- Experience operating farm machinery (e.g., tractors, forklifts).
- Forklift license (LF class).
- Basic mechanical aptitude for minor equipment maintenance.
