Job Description
We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Surveying Assistant (Student) to join our team for a temporary, on-site field work experience role in Footscray. This is an excellent opportunity for a student currently pursuing studies in surveying, civil engineering, or a related field, to gain practical, hands-on experience with a global leader. You will work alongside experienced surveyors and engineers, contributing to real-world projects and developing essential skills in a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior surveyors in conducting field surveys for various projects including infrastructure, land development, and environmental assessments.
- Operate and maintain surveying equipment such as total stations, GPS receivers, and levels under supervision.
- Perform data collection, recording field notes, and basic calculations accurately.
- Set up and dismantle survey equipment efficiently and safely.
- Help with site preparation, including marking out and clearing vegetation.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and company standards on all project sites.
- Assist with data processing and report preparation as required.
Required Skills
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree or Diploma program in Surveying, Civil Engineering, Geospatial Science, or a related discipline.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Good verbal communication skills.
- Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation (preferred, but not essential).
Preferred Qualifications
- Basic understanding of surveying principles and techniques.
- Familiarity with CAD software or geospatial information systems (GIS).
- Previous experience with hand tools and basic construction site safety awareness.
- Construction Induction Card (White Card) or willingness to obtain one.
