Job Description
Are you looking to kickstart your career in surveying? GHD is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Surveying Assistant to join our team in Shepparton. This is an entry-level position perfect for individuals with little to no prior experience who are eager to learn the fundamentals of surveying and gain hands-on experience with modern GPS tools and equipment. You will work closely with experienced surveyors, providing essential support on various projects across the region.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior surveyors in setting up and operating surveying equipment, including total stations, GPS receivers, and data collectors.
- Carry out field measurements, stake out points, and collect data accurately under supervision.
- Learn to interpret survey plans, maps, and other relevant documentation.
- Maintain and clean surveying instruments and vehicles.
- Assist with data entry and basic office tasks related to survey projects.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and company policies on-site.
- Participate in training sessions to develop surveying skills and knowledge.
Required Skills
- Strong willingness to learn and a positive attitude.
- Ability to follow instructions accurately and meticulously.
- Good physical fitness and ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Basic understanding of mathematics (geometry, trigonometry is a plus).
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Valid driver's license (preferred but not essential for entry level).
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in outdoor work or manual labor.
- Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Office Suite).
- A certificate or diploma in surveying, civil engineering, or a related field is a bonus, but not required for this entry-level role.
