Job Description
Accenture is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Software Licensing Specialist to join our dynamic IT firm in Docklands, Melbourne. In this critical role, you will be responsible for managing, optimizing, and ensuring compliance with our extensive portfolio of software licenses. You will work closely with IT, procurement, legal, and finance teams to maximize value from our software assets, minimize risks, and support our global operations. This position requires a strong understanding of various licensing models, contract negotiation, and software asset management best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the full lifecycle of software licenses, from acquisition to renewal and retirement.
- Conduct regular software license reconciliations and audits to ensure compliance with vendor agreements.
- Negotiate licensing terms and conditions with software vendors to achieve favorable outcomes and cost savings.
- Develop and implement strategies for software asset optimization, identifying opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency.
- Provide expert guidance on software licensing models, terms, and policies to internal stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate records of all software licenses, entitlements, and usage data within our SAM tools.
- Collaborate with procurement and legal teams on new software acquisitions and contract renewals.
- Monitor changes in vendor licensing policies and industry trends to anticipate future impacts.
- Prepare reports on license compliance, usage, and spending for management review.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in software asset management (SAM) and software licensing.
- In-depth knowledge of major software vendor licensing models (e.g., Microsoft, Oracle, SAP, Adobe).
- Strong understanding of contract negotiation and vendor management principles.
- Proficiency with SAM tools (e.g., Flexera, ServiceNow, Snow Software).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate complex licensing concepts clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Business, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certifications such as Certified Software Asset Manager (CSAM) or equivalent.
- Experience with cloud licensing models (SaaS, PaaS, IaaS).
- Knowledge of ITIL frameworks, particularly Service Asset and Configuration Management.
- Prior experience in a large, multinational IT services or consulting firm.
