Job Description
Join Cleanaway as a Skip Bin Sorter in our Wodonga facility. This role is integral to our recycling operations, focusing on the efficient and safe sorting of materials received in skip bins. You will be responsible for identifying, separating, and preparing various waste streams for further processing, ensuring that maximum value is recovered and environmental standards are met. This is a physically demanding role within a dynamic and supportive team environment, offering high pay for dedicated individuals.
Key Responsibilities
- Manually sort and separate diverse materials from skip bins, including plastics, metals, paper, cardboard, timber, and general waste.
- Operate basic sorting equipment and machinery safely and efficiently (training provided).
- Identify and remove hazardous materials or contaminants from waste streams.
- Maintain a clean and organised sorting area, adhering to all safety protocols and site procedures.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient workflow and productivity.
- Assist with other general site duties as required to support recycling operations.
- Report any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns immediately to supervisors.
Required Skills
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks for extended periods, including lifting, bending, and standing.
- Strong attention to detail for accurate material identification and separation.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe working environment and adhering to WHS policies.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Basic understanding of waste categories and recycling principles (or willingness to learn).
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a waste management, recycling, or industrial environment.
- Forklift license (LF) or willingness to obtain one.
- Experience operating small machinery or equipment.
- A positive attitude and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
