Job Description

Join Austral Fisheries as a Seafood Sorter in Port Augusta, a vital role in our processing operations. This position offers an immediate start for individuals who are detail-oriented, reliable, and capable of working efficiently in a fast-paced, temperature-controlled environment. As a Seafood Sorter, you will be responsible for inspecting, grading, and preparing various types of seafood for further processing or packaging, ensuring only the highest quality products meet our standards. This is a hands-on role contributing directly to the quality and success of our seafood supply chain.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately sort and grade various types of seafood based on size, quality, and species specifications.
  • Inspect seafood for defects, damage, or foreign materials, removing any non-compliant items.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workstation, adhering to all hygiene and food safety regulations.
  • Work efficiently as part of a team to meet daily production targets and deadlines.
  • Handle seafood with care to prevent damage and maintain product integrity.
  • Assist with packing and labelling finished products as required.
  • Operate basic processing equipment safely after receiving proper training.

Required Skills

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify quality discrepancies.
  • Physical stamina and ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 20kg, and work in cold conditions.
  • Reliability and strong work ethic.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work effectively in a team environment.
  • Basic understanding of food safety and hygiene principles (training provided).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a seafood processing or food production environment.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, high-volume production setting.
  • First Aid certification.
