Job Description
We are seeking dedicated and hardworking Road Construction Hands to become an integral part of our dynamic team in Mackay, QLD. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking for stable, full-time employment with potential for growth within the civil construction sector. As a Road Construction Hand, you will perform a variety of manual labour tasks to support the construction and maintenance of roads and associated infrastructure. This physically demanding role requires a strong work ethic, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team in an outdoor environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with various road construction tasks, including excavation, laying foundations, and paving.
- Operate hand and power tools safely and efficiently under supervision.
- Load and unload materials and equipment, ensuring proper storage and handling.
- Maintain a clean and organised work site, adhering to all housekeeping standards.
- Assist with traffic management setup and control as directed by qualified personnel.
- Adhere strictly to all site safety procedures, guidelines, and environmental regulations.
- Work collaboratively with team members, supervisors, and other contractors to ensure project milestones are met.
- Perform general labouring duties as required to support site operations.
Required Skills
- Physical fitness and ability to perform manual labour in various weather conditions.
- Ability to follow instructions accurately and work effectively in a team.
- A strong commitment to workplace safety and understanding of basic site hazards.
- Possession of a valid Construction Induction Card (White Card) is essential.
- Reliable transport to and from site locations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in road construction, civil works, or a similar outdoor labour role.
- Relevant machine operator tickets (e.g., EWP, skid steer, roller) are highly regarded.
- Traffic Control / Implementer tickets.
- Current HR or HC driver's license.
- First Aid certificate.
