Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Remote Database Administrator to join our Secure Corporate IT team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and security of Oracle’s vital corporate databases. This position demands a proactive approach to database management, focusing heavily on data integrity, performance optimization, and robust security protocols in a fully remote environment. You will work with various database technologies, ensuring high availability, disaster recovery, and compliance with industry standards. Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain all corporate database systems (Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, etc.) to ensure optimal performance, availability, and security.
  • Implement and enforce robust database security policies, including access controls, encryption, patching, and auditing.
  • Perform regular database backups, recovery, and disaster recovery planning and testing.
  • Monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement solutions for optimization.
  • Collaborate with development and operations teams to design, implement, and support new database solutions and features.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex database issues, ensuring minimal downtime.
  • Manage database schema changes, migrations, and upgrades.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for database configurations, processes, and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with data governance, regulatory requirements, and internal security policies.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation for critical database support.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 4 years of experience as a Database Administrator with a strong focus on corporate IT environments.
  • Proficiency in Oracle Database administration (12c, 19c) including RAC, Data Guard, and ASM.
  • Solid understanding of SQL, PL/SQL, and database tuning techniques.
  • Experience with database security best practices, including data encryption, access control, and auditing.
  • Familiarity with cloud database services (e.g., OCI, AWS RDS, Azure SQL Database).
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities for a remote work setting.
  • Experience with Linux/Unix operating systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) or other relevant database certifications.
  • Experience with other database technologies such as SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or MySQL.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages like Python or Shell for automation.
  • Knowledge of ITIL frameworks and change management processes.
  • Experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and CI/CD pipelines.
