Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Rehabilitation Nurse to join our team in Wangaratta. This is a fantastic opportunity for a nurse who is passionate about helping patients recover and achieve their rehabilitation goals. You will work day shifts only, ensuring a stable and predictable schedule, within a supportive and collaborative environment. This role involves providing specialized nursing care, monitoring patient progress, and working closely with physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and other healthcare professionals to deliver holistic patient-centred care.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality nursing care to patients undergoing rehabilitation programs.
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
- Monitor and record vital signs, administer medications, and manage wound care.
- Educate patients and their families on rehabilitation goals and self-care techniques.
- Assist patients with mobility, personal care, and activities of daily living.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to care planning discussions.
- Ensure a safe and therapeutic environment for patients.
- Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and professional standards.
- Provide emotional support and encouragement to patients throughout their recovery journey.
Required Skills
- Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse (Division 1).
- Minimum of 2 years post-registration experience, with at least 1 year in rehabilitation, acute care, or a related field.
- Demonstrated understanding of rehabilitation principles and practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Commitment to continuous professional development.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Preferred Qualifications
- Postgraduate qualification in Rehabilitation Nursing or a related specialty.
- Experience with neurological, orthopaedic, or general medical rehabilitation.
- Proficiency in using electronic health records (EHR) systems.
